Brahma TM 31 Ignition Control Unit: Advanced Technology for Boilers

This ignition control unit produced by Brahma is well suited for balanced flow boilers, type C sealed chamber. The TM 31 ignition board manages a complete combustion chamber, equipped with a smoke extractor and air control pressure switch, and takes care of the entire ignition phase. Similar to the BRAHMA TM 11 board, it offers the ability to handle both single and double ignition and controls flame detection.

The TM 31 ignition and detection board interfaces with a common air pressure switch and allows for double testing through NC and NO contacts, normally closed and normally open. Malfunction cases include issues with the extractor’s relay and incorrect detection of the pressure switch status. The use of a phase tester is crucial for diagnosis.

Operation

The BRAHMA TM 31 ignition and detection board receives basic power through the phase and neutral contacts. It initiates the ignition phase with an initial check of the air pressure switch with the smoke extractor off, then activates the extractor and verifies the triggering of the air pressure switch. Subsequently, the Gas Valve is powered, and as with the TM11 model, it follows a period of ignition electrode sparking which can lead the board to stable ignition or to ignition lockout.

Malfunction Cases

In addition to the cases of the previous model, new issues related to the smoke extractor are included.

  • Noises coming from the Relays during operation
  • Relay malfunctions
  • Board with visible signs of burning and strong odors
  • Stall due to malfunctioning of the extractor activity detection circuit
